Professor Cathy Zimmerman is a behavioural and social scientist and co-founder of the Gender Violence & Health Centre at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Professor Zimmerman specialises in research and evaluation on migration and health, specifically human trafficking, forced labour and gender-based violence. Professor Zimmerman’s research includes the first qualitative and quantitative studies on the health of trafficking survivors, the largest survey to date on the health of male, female and child trafficking survivors in the Mekong; recently completed five-year intervention evaluation study on community-based pre-migration programming to prevent human trafficking in South Asia and intervention development research for Freedom Fund’s Safer Migration programming in Ethiopia. She is currently leading a body of work on child domestic labour in Southeast Asia. Professor Zimmerman is the author of the World Health Organization's WHO Recommendations for Interviewing Trafficked Women, IOM and LSHTM's Caring for Trafficked Persons: Guidance for Health Providers.
