Migration often dominates the news, but do we really understand the complex and personal stories behind the headlines? Join our MIDEQ colleagues PositiveNegatives and Professor Laura Hammond for a panel looking at approaches researchers are using to share these experiences, including through comics, animations and art installations.

Speakers
Professor Laura Hammond is Professor of Development Studies at SOAS University of London. Laura has been conducting research on conflict, food security, migration and diasporas in and from the Horn of Africa since the early 1990s. She has taught at Clark University, the University of Reading, and was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Sussex.
Dr Benjamin Worku-Dix is Founding Director, PositiveNegatives. Ben worked as a Communications Manager for the United Nations and various international NGOs across Asia and Africa for over 12 years. After working as a photojournalist across India for seven years, Ben was based in LTTE controlled Vanni, North Sri Lanka with the UN from 2004 – 2008 throughout the conflict.
