Joelle is a social scientist with expertise in mixed-methods research and complex evaluations. Her research explores the experiences of low-waged labour migrants, including those related to forced/unfree labour and their associated coping mechanisms. Joelle has led studies on migration, labour exploitation, gender-based violence and sexual health across a range of African and Asian settings. Joelle has a strong interest in research ethics and is a member of the UK’s National Health Services’ Ethics Committee and LSHTM’s Ethics Committee. Joelle is part of the LSHTM team, leading MIDEQ’s 12-country survey.
